Welcome President Arnold
Northern are pleased to announce Nick Arnold as our new club president. Nick takes over from Richard Kain who becomes the new club Honorary Chairman.
Although unable to attend the opening day win over Hartlepool Rovers, Nick traveled to watch the 1st team victory over Horden & Peterlee RFC last weekend.
Tomorrow’s game with Ponteland gives nick the first opportunity to welcome opposition to McCracken Park as new president.
President Arnold's welcome message:
I would like to extend the warmest possible welcome to all visiting McCracken Park to watch today’s game. Sincere thanks to everyone for coming and a specific welcome to our guests supporting our opposition. I do hope you enjoy the game and the Club’s facilities post-match.
After the disruption of the past two seasons we are looking forward to competing again in Durham and Northumberland 1 under the guidance of coaches Dave Guthrie and Jim Pollock and Director of Rugby John Barnes. As always at Northern, we aspire to play entertaining rugby - but personally I
hope there are occasional tussles that fall into the category of “one for the purists”. We will be running three sides this season including the Wanderers (seconds) and the Panthers (thirds) and it is an aspiration to get as many as possible playing our wonderful sport. I would also thank all the volunteers who give up so much of their time to make sure that the club runs efficiently and continues to flourish.
I have been involved at Northern FC for over 30 years as a player, captain, coach, pantomime performer and general alickadoo. I am therefore honoured and privileged to be Northern Football Club’s first socialist President. Northern has an unrivalled reputation for being a friendly club and the banality of the conversation in the Terrace Bar is world renowned.
The President’s commended ales are from Northern Alchemy and his cocktail of choice for the season is Campari and Tonic.
