A couple of weeks ago we lost another from the Northern rugby family. Ian Douglas sadly passed away while on hoilday with wife Liz in Egypt. The club has stayed quiet on the matter until we had the blessing of Liz and son Patrick, who plays for the first team. Ian had been a member of the club for more than forty years, playing in serveral sides. He was also heavily involved off the pitch, being chairman of mini and youth rugby while Patrick came through the age groups. He was a big part of the club's panto that would be staged for the children at the club (and a lot of adults!), with his loud voice and jokes always getting a laugh.
The family will be taking donations for two charities in Ian's name.
The First is HELP FOR HEROS, where they help provide better facilities for British servicemen and women who have been wounded or injured in the line of duty.
Donations can be made here ---> https://portal.helpforheroes.org.uk/donation
The second charity is STAY STRONG STU. Stu Ridley was a 25 year old farmer and played for Tynedale, where Ian also played, who sadly lost his battle with an inoperable brain tumour. Details on where to donate to follow
